Holiday Party Rentals Cumberland RI: A Week-by-Week Booking Timeline to December Break
Answer: For a Cumberland holiday party on a Saturday in mid-December, start about seven weeks out. Pick the date and the place first, reserve any hall by early November, lock the main rental before Thanksgiving recess (November 26 and 27), then spend the last two weeks on headcount, power, and paperwork. Cumberland schools are on holiday recess from December 24 through January 1, so the Saturdays just before that week go first. Rhode Island orders are dispatched from our Greenville, RI office. Call (508) 203-5946 to book your date.

This guide counts backward from one example date, Saturday, December 19, 2026, the last Saturday before Cumberland's holiday recess. Another date? Shift each step by the same gap. The dates below come from the Cumberland School Department's approved 2026-2027 calendar, Town of Cumberland pages, and Hebcal sunset times for ZIP 02864.

7 weeks out (by October 31): date and place
Settle three things this week: the date, whether the party is at home or in a rented room, and a rough guest count. Everything else hangs on those answers.
- Check the family calendar against the district one. Cumberland lists Thanksgiving recess on November 26 and 27, and the same calendar notes Hanukkah from December 4 to 12.
- Check your date online or by phone and book it. December Saturdays before school vacation are the first to fill.
6 weeks out (by November 7): reserve the room
If the guest list will not fit at home, Cumberland has a newer option. The Lodge at Diamond Hill holds up to 144 guests and is taking private event requests, including birthday parties, through an inquiry form on the Town website. The Town's fee ordinance for the Lodge sets hours of 10 AM to 11 PM, prices it in five-hour blocks, and counts December as non-prime season, which carries the lower rate tier. Questions go to the Deputy Parks and Recreation Director at 401-799-7372.
Two places to rule out early:
- Cumberland Public Library, 1464 Diamond Hill Road: its meeting room policy says rooms may not be used for personal or family purposes, so a family gathering belongs somewhere else.
- Town parks, fields, and courts: the same ordinance says use is by permit only, and a small group permit applies to birthday parties and gatherings of more than 25 people. Get the permit before you book anything for a park.
4 weeks out (by November 21): lock the main rental
Make the big decision the Saturday before Thanksgiving week. For a holiday theme, our Christmas bounces page lists three bounce houses, each at $200 for one day on its product page:
Those heights matter indoors. If the room cannot clear 13 ft plus headroom, choose a game instead: the Christmas Gnome Ring Toss stands 6 ft high on a 9 x 8 ft base, and Pin The Nose On Rudolph is 8 x 7 ft and 9 ft high. Teens and grown-ups tend to line up for the Snow Throw Axe Challenge, where players take turns aiming at a frosty inflatable target.
3 weeks out (by November 28): food, seats, and photos
Fill in the extras over the long weekend.
2 weeks out (by December 5): headcount and paperwork
Close the RSVP list and send the final numbers to your venue. If the hall or a school asks for proof of coverage, request it now rather than the week of the party. AJT can provide additional insured certificates.
Local note: December 5 is also the Blackstone River Theatre Holiday Craft Fair and Festival at 549 Broad Street, a free event running 9 AM to 3 PM with 24 vendors and live music. If your party sits near Broad Street that day, give guests a parking plan.
1 week out (by December 12): access, power, and surface
- Pick the exact setup spot and measure it again, including the lowest point overhead if you are indoors.
- Find the outlet you will use and keep that circuit free of space heaters and slow cookers.
- Tell us the surface: carpet, wood, concrete, frozen lawn, or pavement.
- Describe the path from the curb to the room: steps, gates, and narrow doors.
No outlet near an outdoor spot? Our 1800W Generator can run a standard bounce house, but its page rules out combos and slides.
Day before and party day (December 18 and 19)
The day before, clear the setup area of toys, decorations, and ice, and choose one adult to meet the crew and sign for the delivery. On party day, plan any outdoor time early: Hebcal lists the Cumberland sunset at 4:17 PM on December 19. If part of the party is outside, you make the weather call by 8 AM on party day; see our weather and cancellation policy for rain dates and store credit.
Partying during school vacation instead
A weekday party during holiday recess, December 24 through January 1, follows the same countdown; just start it from your new date. The district's February winter recess runs February 15 to 19, 2027, and the Hebcal sunset on February 15 is 5:19 PM, so an indoor afternoon party still has daylight for arrivals.

FAQ: Holiday party timing in Cumberland
Is late October too early to reserve a December Saturday?
No. Booking now gives you the widest choice of units, and add-ons can wait until later in November.
Can a family rent the Lodge at Diamond Hill for a kids holiday party?
The Town lists birthday parties among the private events it accepts at the Lodge. Submit the inquiry form and wait for the Town's confirmation before you book rentals for that room.
Does a party at a Cumberland park need a permit?
Yes. Town ordinance makes parks, fields, and courts permit-only, with a small group permit for birthday parties or gatherings above 25 people.
Could we hold the party in a room at the library on Diamond Hill Road?
Not for a family event. The library policy limits its rooms to civic groups, town departments, and nonprofit organizations.
Which dates are Cumberland students off in December and February?
Kids are out from Thursday, December 24 to Friday, January 1 for the holidays, then again February 15-19, 2027 for winter recess, per the Cumberland School Department.
