Is AJT Bounce Licensed and Insured?
Yes. AJT Bounce & Events is a fully licensed and insured party rental company serving Massachusetts and Rhode Island. We carry comprehensive general liability insurance and all required state and local permits to operate inflatable amusement devices. As a licensed operator, we comply with Massachusetts General Law Chapter 140, Section 205A, which requires operators of inflatable amusements 12 feet or taller to be licensed by the Massachusetts Department of Public Safety. Our commitment to proper licensing and insurance means your event is protected every step of the way.
What Safety Standards Do Your Inflatables Meet?
All of our inflatable rental units are designed, manufactured, and maintained in accordance with ASTM F2374, the industry standard for inflatable amusement device safety. This standard covers design specifications, material quality, seam strength, anchoring requirements, and operational guidelines. We conduct regular inspections of every unit to ensure ongoing compliance, and each inflatable undergoes a thorough safety check before and after every rental.
How Do You Set Up and Anchor Inflatables?
Every AJT Bounce delivery includes professional setup by our trained team. We anchor all inflatables using heavy-duty stakes (18-inch steel stakes on soft ground) or 500-pound sandbags/water barrels on hard surfaces such as asphalt or concrete. Each anchor point is installed according to manufacturer specifications, and we perform a full stability check before allowing anyone to enter the unit. Setup typically takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the size and complexity of the unit.
What Are the Weight and Capacity Limits?
Capacity limits vary by unit size and type, but general guidelines include:
- Standard bounce houses (13x13): 6 to 8 children, maximum 600 lbs total weight
- Combo units (bounce + slide): 6 to 10 children, maximum 800 lbs depending on model
- Water slides: 4 to 6 riders (one at a time down the slide), maximum 500 lbs
- Obstacle courses: 4 to 8 participants, maximum 800 lbs total
Our team will review the specific capacity limits for your chosen unit at delivery. We strictly enforce these limits for your safety.
What Happens in Bad Weather?
Your safety is our priority. We do not operate inflatables in:
• Sustained winds over 25 mph or any gusts exceeding 35 mph
• Heavy rain, thunderstorms, or lightning within 10 miles
• Snow or icy conditions
If inclement weather is forecast, we work with you to reschedule or discuss alternatives. We monitor weather conditions and may suspend operation if conditions deteriorate during your event.
Do You Provide On-Site Supervision?
For commercial events, school functions, and large gatherings, we recommend and can provide trained on-site operators to supervise the inflatable throughout the rental period. Our operators are trained in safe inflatable operation, capacity management, and basic first aid. For residential rentals, we provide a detailed safety card and review all safety rules with the responsible adult at delivery.
How Are Inflatables Cleaned and Sanitized?
Every AJT Bounce inflatable is cleaned and sanitized before and after each rental. Our cleaning process includes:
• A commercial-grade disinfectant spray applied to all surfaces
• Wipe-down of all high-touch areas including entry ramps, slide surfaces, and wall padding
• Spot cleaning for stains or marks
• Air drying before storage, preventing mold and mildew
We use EPA-approved cleaning agents that are safe for children but effective against bacteria and viruses.
What Should Parents Look For Before Children Enter?
Before allowing children into any inflatable, parents should check:
• Proper anchoring: all stakes, sandbags, or water barrels are secure and visible
• No visible damage: check for tears, holes, or worn seams on the inflatable surface
• Proper inflation: walls are firm and bounce surface is evenly inflated
• Clear area: no sharp objects, rocks, or debris within 5 feet of the unit
• Age-appropriate: younger and older children should use separate sessions
• No shoes, glasses, jewelry, or sharp objects: these can damage the unit or cause injury
Are There Any Age or Height Restrictions?
We recommend inflatables for children ages 3 and up. Children under 3 should not use inflatable units due to the risk of injury from bouncing. All children under 6 should be accompanied by a responsible adult inside the inflatable. For safety, we do not allow adults over 200 lbs inside bounce houses (adults can supervise from outside unless the unit is specifically designed for adult use, such as our larger combo units).
What Does Massachusetts Law Require for Inflatable Rentals?
Massachusetts has specific requirements for inflatable amusement device rentals under M.G.L. Chapter 140, Section 205A:
• Licensing: Any inflatable 12 feet or taller requires a licensed operator
• Insurance: Rental companies must carry liability insurance of at least $1 million per occurrence
• Inspection: Units must be inspected annually by a certified third-party inspector
• Operator: A trained operator must be present during operation for units that require licensing
• Records: Rental companies must maintain inspection and maintenance logs
AJT Bounce & Events meets or exceeds all Massachusetts state requirements. We maintain current licenses, carry full insurance, and keep detailed maintenance records for every unit in our inventory.
